Collagen

Collagen bioactive peptide (P-15)

An example of a collagen biomimetic peptide is P-15 which mimics the 15 amino-acid sequence found in type I collagen.2  Type I collagen is crucial for bone regeneration by playing active roles in tissue assembly, cell differentiation, growth and biomineralization. Consequently, it provides a structural support by providing strength and support for tissues. Studies indicate the ability of P-15 to create a biomimetic microenvironment for osteoblasts as well as indicate the potential for the exploitation of extracellular matrix cues for osteogenesis and bone generation.3
